In celebration of the Employee Ownership Foundation’s 30th anniversary, we are launching ESOPATHON to engage more employee owners in promoting ESOPs nationwide while building the resources we need for the next 30 years! 

ESOPATHON is a month-long, activity-based, fundraising event that allows employee owners to set up their own charitable fundraising webpage, participate in teams together (like their own ESOP company team), and to make the ESOPATHON part of their Employee Ownership Month programming.  To make it more fun, the ESOPATHON encourages individuals and teams to challenge others to competitions.
During Employee Ownership Month, October 1 through October 31. You can start setting up your fundraising page in September so you’ll be ready to go on October 1.
Wherever you are! ESOPATHON is a virtual fundraising event that lets you share your story and support employee ownership no matter where you are located. Companies can form teams that allow in person, virtual and remote employees to participate as well as create fun challenges in any manner they choose.
There are multiple ways you can participate! You can participate as an individual, a company or create a team. There is even the ability to challenge your peers! Click here to learn more.
Of course! ESOPATHON was built for everyone to participate and however they choose! You can pick the activity that best suits you! Do you swim laps? Read books? Want to drink more water during the day? If you can track it in distance, time, or units (think books per week) then you can participate.  As you reach out to your friends, coworkers, or even family members, you will ask them to pledge donations against your activity.  Want to swim a mile every day?  Read a book every week?  Run 100 miles during the month?  Go for it!   
To add a little element of competition, ESOPATHON gives you, your company, or a team the chance to strut your stuff and challenge others to do the same – all in order to help advance employee ownership!  Does your company have multiple locations?  Well, maybe the Chicago location can challenge the St. Louis location to see which can raise more!   What about those Kansas-based ESOP folks you met at the conference in Las Vegas?  Yep…bring it on.  You can even take your challenge to social media – record a short video challenging a peer to raise money for the foundation and share it with the hashtags #ESOPATHON and #EOChallenge.

Registration is currently open and there is no registration deadline.  Just keep in mind the event starts October 1st and ends on October 31st.  So if you want to make the most of it, sign up in September and start reaching out to get your pledges!

Contribution and Donation FAQs

Yes. You can make a donation to an individual, a team or you can make a general donation. To make and designate a donation, select Donate on the menu bar, from here you will be able to choose the type of recipient and search for their campaign.
